ISWI Newsletter - Vol.3 No.63
05 July 2011

Dear ISWI Participant:

I received the following message (below) from Dr Hans Haubold of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna, Austria. Check out the evidence (attached as pdf).

Dear George,

UNBSSI started in 1991 and is scheduled to continue beyond 2012: BSS 1991-2004, IHY 2005-2009, ISWI 2010-2012. IHY instrument deloyment started in 2005 with the first IHY workshop, hosted by UAE.

ISWI held its first workshop in 2010, hosted by Egypt. Attached please find the UN report on the 2005 IHY workshop in UAE and the UN report on the 2010 ISWI workshop in Egypt. Please kindly distribute the two reports through the ISWI Newsletter so that readers have the written evidence how IHY/ISWI instrument arrays were deployed in the past ~ seven years.

The current status of development of ISWI instruments arrays looks very impressive to me (15 arrays, > 600 instruments, instruments in 95 countries, national coordinators in 83 countries, website visited by > 5000 individuals from 108 countries, etc).

Hans

Respectfully yours,
George Maeda
